In early January, Apple’s Original Distributor in Vietnam (AAR) reported that a large number of items had entered the market, quenching the thirst for the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

The source of the excess goods also led to a sharp adjustment in the iPhone price. At the end of December 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro Max 128GB cost VND 33.9 million, but in early January the price of the device dropped by VND 2 million to VND 31.8 million. Two weeks later, this model was adjusted from VND 2 million to VND 29.8 million. This week, multiple AARs further increased the number of devices to 28.3 million.

Thus, in a month, each iPhone 14 Pro Max is reduced by 3.5 million. Compared to when it was on store shelves just four months ago, the cost of the device has dropped by VND 9 million.

The price of the 1TB storage version decreased by VND4.4 million compared to the previous month, from VND45.9 million to VND41.5 million. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro 128GB model has also been adjusted to 25.5 million, one million VND cheaper.

Representatives from several AARs have stated that this agreement is supported directly by Apple. Specifically, each iPhone is subsidized at around VND900,000 combined with each system’s rebate program, which helps the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max to command a record price since their sale.

“This is the first time Apple has lowered the price of the iPhone 14, which is an unexpected move for the Vietnamese market. Typically, grants are awarded midway through the product lifecycle, which is around June of each year. With the iPhone 14, the company has increased demand in just 4 months since the device was launched,” said a representative of the Mobile Viet system.

Another reason for the sudden price drop is the abundance of goods after Tet. The system previously confirmed that 80% of iPhone 14 shipments imported in January were Pro and Pro Max versions. At the same time, several high-end Android smartphones were launched, prompting Apple to adjust prices to increase consumer demand.

The iPhone 14 series has been officially on sale in Vietnam since October 14, 2022, but supply is still low due to supply chain influence. A month after the opening of sales in Indonesia, the price of the iPhone 14 Pro Max even increased by VND 1-2 million due to insufficient supply and demand. In the second half of December 2022, the thirst for the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will begin to cool as goods begin to flow in abundance. To date, some GO systems have left the market stagnant for several months when the peak buying season is over.
