PlayStation 5 may break if placed vertically
The Sony PlayStation 5 (PS5) game console can be placed in two positions, horizontal or vertical, depending on space or user preference. However, according to some repair experts, mounting the machine vertically can cause serious damage.

Ben Montana, owner of the ILoveMyConsole workshop in France, has been working on the topic for months. The risk is particularly high with the PS5 console, he said, and all versions of the PS5, from digital to standard, are affected.
If used for a long time, the protective films for sealing the APU and the heat sink may peel off or be damaged. When the car is level, the liquid metal in the radiator is level and does not flow, preserving its cooling ability. In milder cases, the molten metal layer becomes unevenly distributed across the heatsink and reduces the system’s ability to dissipate heat. The amount of liquid metal leakage depends on the thickness of the screen protector that Sony uses for the PS5.
